Ship builders never claim that a ship is unsinkable,
but sinking of the “Titanic” in the Northern Sea
should never have happened. It was well designed
and carefully maintained. It carried proper number
of lifeboats. It was thoroughly inspected a day
before its fatal voyage. Yet hours later, the
“Titanic” broke up and sank after colliding with an
iceberg in the cold and still night. It went down so
quickly that most of those on board, caught in their
